AGICO Cement Ball Mill Trunnion Bearing Chock
The ball mill bearing housing (also called the bearing chock, bearing pedestal, or bearing seat) is a key component that holds and supports the bearing. Its job is to lock the outer ring of the bearing in place so that only the inner ring rotates. This keeps the bearing stable and properly aligned. Wherever there is a bearing, you need a support point. The inner support is the shaft. The outer support is the bearing housing.
The bearing housing is widely used in ball mills, rotary kilns, vertical mills, rolling mills, and other heavy industrial equipment. On a ball mill, the bearing housing is mounted on the foundation at both the feed end and the discharge end. It supports the trunnion bearing and bears the full weight of the rotating mill cylinder, grinding media, and material inside.
Bearing Housing Manufacturer
AGICO is a professional manufacturer with over 20 years of experience. We produce high-quality bearing housings using strong cast steel, advanced CAE simulation, and strict quality control. Our bearing housings are designed for long service life, easy maintenance, and reliable operation.

Structure of Ball Mill Bearing Housing
The ball mill bearing housing is a split-type structure. It has two main parts: the base (bottom half) and the cap (top half).
- The base is bolted to the foundation using anchor bolts.
- The cap is removable, allowing easy access to the bearing without lifting the entire mill.
- Inside the housing sits the bearing (often a spherical roller bearing), which supports the trunnion (hollow shaft) of the mill.
The housing also includes an oil level observation scale for easy lubrication monitoring and sealing elements to keep dust and contaminants out.
Working Principle
During operation, the trunnion rotates inside the bearing. The bearing housing remains stationary. The housing keeps the bearing in the correct position and prevents unwanted movement. It is designed to take two types of loads:
- Radial loads – the weight of the mill cylinder, grinding media, and material
- Axial loads – the thrust generated during the grinding process
The housing is fixed to the foundation. It transfers these loads safely to the ground. At the same time, the oil lubrication system (thin oil) continuously supplies oil to the bearing, reducing friction and heat.

Advantages of Ball Mill Trunnion Bearing Seat
Quick Access
The split design lets you remove the top half of the housing while the mill stays in place. You can inspect or replace the bearing without lifting the mill cylinder. Maintenance time is cut by more than half.
Prevents Pinching & Overheating
AGICO uses CNC boring to achieve ±0.01mm roundness and diameter tolerance. The bearing fits perfectly—not too tight (causes overheating) and not too loose (causes vibration). Both problems are eliminated.
High Wear Resistance
Our bearing housings are cast from SCW480, ZG35, or ZG45 steel. SCW480 offers high hardness and strong wear resistance. Even after years of heavy use, the housing stays reliable with minimal wear.
Oil Window & Real-Time Monitoring
A clear oil level window lets operators check oil in seconds without stopping the mill. Optional sensors can monitor temperature, vibration, and oil condition in real time. This helps prevent oil starvation and bearing damage.
Thin Oil Circulation
Thin oil (circulating oil) continuously carries away heat and flushes out wear particles. Compared to grease, thin oil lowers bearing temperature by 10–15°C, extends bearing life, and saves power. Your mill can run 24/7 with fewer stops.
Smart Sealing
The optimized outer sleeve keeps dust and fine particles out of the bearing box. Clean oil stays clean longer. This reduces abrasive wear, keeps the bearing chock running safely, and extends service life.

Installation and Maintenance Tips
Installation Tips
- Inspect before installation: Check the housing for cracks, casting defects, or damage.
- Clean thoroughly: Remove all dirt, old grease, and debris from the bore and mating surfaces.
- Measure the bore: Ensure the bore diameter is within tolerance before fitting the bearing.
- Tighten bolts evenly: Follow the recommended torque pattern and values to avoid distorting the housing.
Maintenance Tips
To extend the service life of your ball mill bearing housing, follow these tips:
- Check oil level daily: Use the oil level window to ensure enough oil.
- Monitor temperature: If bearing temperature exceeds 60°C, stop the mill and inspect.
- Check for oil leaks: Leaking seals let contaminants in and oil out.
- Inspect for cracks regularly: If you find cracks, repair or replace them immediately.
- Replace worn seals: Good sealing keeps dust out and protects the bearing.

Frequently Asked Questions about Ball Mill Bearing Housing
What is the difference between a bearing housing and a bearing?
The bearing is the rolling part that reduces friction. The bearing housing is the outer case that holds the bearing in place, keeps it aligned, and protects it from dust and damage.
What materials does AGICO use for bearing housings?
AGICO mainly uses ZG35 and ZG45 cast steel. We can also use SCW480 steel or custom materials according to your drawings.
How accurate are AGICO bearing housings?
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Suspendisse varius enim in eros eleentum tristique. Duis cursus, mi quis viverra ornare, erosdolor interdum nulla, ut commodo diam libero vitae erat
Can AGICO make bearing housings to match my old mill?
AGICO achieves ±0.01mm accuracy on machined surfaces using CNC equipment. This ensures a proper fit with the bearing, reducing vibration and preventing overheating.
What is the standard lead time for a bearing housing?
Standard lead time is 30–45 days. For urgent needs, please contact us to discuss faster options. AGICO has a large production capacity of 50,000 tons per year.
How does AGICO ensure casting quality?
We use CAE casting simulation, strict control of smelting and pouring, heat treatment, and 100% non-destructive testing (UT, MT, PT) on every bearing housing. Full material test reports are provided.
